The Inauguration of José Antonio Kast in Chile: Panama President José Raúl Mulino is Attending

President José Raúl Mulino arrived in Santiago, Chile on Tuesday, March 10, aboard the presidential plane, accompanied by First Lady Maricel Cohen and Foreign Minister Javier Martínez Acha. Mulino is scheduled to participate this Wednesday, March 11, in the inauguration of President José Antonio Kast and his new cabinet, an event that will take place in the National Congress of Valparaíso. After landing at Arturo Merino Benítez airport, Mulino was received by Sergio Villagrán representing the Government of Chile, and by the Panamanian ambassador to that country, Enrique Jiménez.

The president will travel to the Cousiño Palace, where he will hold a bilateral meeting at 6:30 p.m. with President Kast and part of his team, the Ministry of the Presidency of Panama reported. This would be the second meeting between Mulino and Kast. Kast visited the Presidential Palace in Panama on January 29, where they discussed, among other topics, Chile’s strategic role as the fourth largest user of the Panama Canal. With this trip to Chile, Mulino completes 22 trips abroad during his presidential term.

This afternoon’s bilateral meeting will be attended by Panama’s Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Economy and Finance, Trade and Industries, and the Minister for Panama Canal Affairs: Javier Martínez Acha, Felipe Chapman, Julio Moltó, and José Ramón Icaza, respectively. Chile will be represented by the designated Minister of Foreign Affairs, Francisco Pérez; the Secretary General for Foreign Policy, Frank Tressler; and the Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Economy and Mines, Agustín Quera.
