Starting Friday March 6th There Will Be An Increase in Panama Petro Prices
The Impact of the Conflict in the Middle East is the Reason that Fuel Prices will Rise Again Starting this Friday
The National Energy Secretariat announced that a new adjustment to fuel prices will take effect this Friday, March 6, reflecting increases in all its variants. According to the official report, 95-octane gasoline will increase by four cents per liter and will be sold at $0.94. Meanwhile, 91-octane gasoline will rise by three cents, setting its price at $0.88 per liter. Diesel will see an increase of seven cents, bringing its price to $0.90 per liter. The new prices will be in effect until next Friday, March 20th. In the price calculation for this period, the impact of the recent conflict in the Middle East is still limited, as the reference mechanism mainly incorporates two market days following the events.
This means that current behavior does not yet fully reflect the reaction of international markets to the new geopolitical tension. In fact, prior to this situation, an upward trend in international fuel prices was already observed, associated with dynamics of the global energy market and not directly linked to Iran. Therefore, the entity assures that any effect attributable to the conflict could become more evident in the next adjustment cycles, as the market more broadly incorporates information related to the evolution of the crisis into the international references that serve as the basis for local calculation.
