Panama Surpassed Three Million International Tourists in 2025

The country registered a growth of nearly 8% in visitor arrivals, according to official data from the Government and the Panama Tourism Authority.

Panama closed the year 2025 with 3 million international visitors, representing an 8.4% growth compared to 2024, reported the President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino.  During his weekly press conference, the president highlighted that the increase in the arrival of travelers reflects the dynamism of the tourism sector and its contribution to the national economy.  Mulino also indicated that a report by the Latin American and Caribbean Air Transport Association (ALTA) places Panama, along with Argentina and Brazil, among the countries in the region with the greatest growth in the number of passengers passing through their airports.

Data from the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP) details that the country received 3,004,266 international visitors between January and December 2025, confirming the growth trend of the tourism sector.  Tourism also generated revenues of $6.583 billion, not including international transport, a figure that represents an increase of 9.7% compared to the previous year, according to preliminary statistics from the entity.  Most visitors entered through Tocumen International Airport, which registered 2,244,078 travelers, a 10% increase compared to 2024.

Cruise ports added 344,408 passengers, with an 11.5% growth, while the Paso Canoas border crossing reported 106,006 visitors, a 2.9% increase.   Statistics also indicate that 2,330,677 tourists stayed overnight in the country, an increase of 11% , reflecting not only a greater flow of visitors, but also a longer stay and greater spending in the local economy.  ATP administrator Gloria De León noted that exceeding three million visitors confirms the strengthening of the country as a destination in the region.

“Exceeding 3 million visitors is a key sign that Panama is strengthening its position as a competitive destination in the region. These results reflect the impact of our strategy for promotion, connectivity, and diversification of the tourism product,” she stated.   The official added that the country continues to promote its position as a venue for congresses, conventions and international events, in addition to consolidating itself as a regional air connectivity center.
