Kidney Transplants Lead in Panama with Over a Thousand Procedures

Panama City, Panama: Social Security Fund’s (CSS) transplant program has surpassed 1,400 surgical procedures since its creation in 1990, the entity announced. Kidney transplantation continues to lead the national statistics by a wide margin, with 1,022 procedures performed to date. In 2025 alone, 41 kidney transplants were performed at the City of Health, 17 from living donors and 24 from deceased donors. So far in 2026, four additional procedures have already been performed. The Social Security Fund’s (CSS) transplant program has performed over 1,400 surgical procedures since its inception in 1990, the agency announced.
