A Poll Reveals that Marco Rubio and Maria Corina Machado Lead in Citizen Support During Venezuela’s Transition

Amid the so-called political transition period in Venezuela following the capture of Nicolás Maduro and Cilia Flores on January 3, an Atlas-Intel survey in partnership with Bloomberg reveals that US Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Venezuelan opposition leader and Nobel Peace Prize laureate María Corina Machado are the most popular political figures among adults in the South American country.
The measurement, applied between February 19 and 25 with a margin of error of plus or minus 2 points and representative of the Venezuelan territory, shows that Rubio obtains a positive image of 57%, while Machado reaches 56% favorable perception. Both are perceived by broad sectors as key players in shaping a more stable and prosperous political future for Venezuela.
For his part, President Donald Trump is also among the leaders most highly regarded by Venezuelans, with a 53% positive image, reflecting a strong impact of his foreign policy in Venezuela.
