Jewelry Store in the Albrook Mall Robbed: Ecuadorian Woman Arrested in Panama

Police were waiting and arrested her upon setting foot on Panamanian soil. The foreigner had an outstanding arrest warrant.

A woman of Ecuadorian nationality was apprehended by units of the National Police when she entered the country through the Tocumen International Airport, coming from Guayaquil, Ecuador.  The capture was made possible thanks to the exchange of information between Panamanian and Ecuadorian authorities, as part of international cooperation mechanisms in security matters.  According to the police report, the foreigner had an outstanding arrest warrant for her alleged involvement in the theft of a jewelry store located in the Albrook Mall, which occurred on July 10, 2025.

In that incident, 88 gold rings of 18 karats were stolen, with an estimated value of $60,000.00, affecting the economic assets of the commercial establishment.  At the time of her arrest, authorities seized more than $9,000 in cash, as well as technological equipment and other evidence that will be analyzed as part of the investigative process.  In connection with this same case, three Ecuadorian citizens remain in pretrial detention, charged with aggravated damage and criminal conspiracy. These arrests were made on October 24, 2025, during Operation Andina.  The investigations have also linked those involved to two other thefts recorded at Tocumen International Airport and at the Multiplaza Pacific shopping center.
