The province of Colón continues to promote itself as a tourist destination with the arrival of cruise ships. The modern Brilliant Lady cruise ship, from the Virgin Voyages line, arrived on the Atlantic coast for the first time. This cruise ship docked at the home port of Terminal 2 in the city of Colón, and it arrives within the cruise season. The vessel arrived with 1,668 passengers and 1,146 crew members, coming from Puerto Limón, Costa Rica, and will continue its itinerary to Cartagena, Colombia, as part of an international route that includes Miami, Costa Maya, Puerto Limón, Colón, Cartagena and Oranjestad (Aruba).
This type of arrival is expected to reaffirm the importance of the cruise season as an engine of economic growth, benefiting local commerce, transport, gastronomy and tourism services. Furthermore, the arrival of these cruise ships aims to position Colón as a strategic point within the Caribbean routes. Similarly, the aim is to generate economic growth for small and medium-sized businesses. With the arrival of these cruise ships, they also hope to showcase their gastronomy, crafts, and other services. The Brilliant Lady, which began operations in August 2025, has 16 floors, 1,408 cabins and is 277.20 meters long, reflecting the potential of the Colon port to receive high-level vessels.
