More Than 131,000 Students are Seeking a Scholarship from IFARHU This Year

The Ifarhu launched the competition on January 12, allowing applications from primary, middle, high school, and first-year university students. Registration remains open through the website www.ifarhu.gob.pa until Friday, January 23.

IFARHU (Instituto para la Formación y Aprovechamiento de Recursos Humanos) is Panama’s government agency for financing human resource development, primarily offering educational loans and scholarships to Panamanian students for higher education, both domestically and internationally, supporting fields from bachelor’s to doctoral studies and various specializations like English language training.

What IFARHU Does:

  • Provides Financial Aid: Offers loans (préstamos educativos) and scholarships to help students pay for university, technical, and postgraduate studies.
  • Supports Diverse Programs: Funds programs for general studies, students with disabilities, combating child labor, and supporting sports and cultural events.
  • Facilitates International Study: Partners with foreign universities (like Wilkes University, Camosun College, University of Waterloo) to send top Panamanian students abroad for specialized training, including English language skills.
  • Manages Loan Repayments: Manages educational loans, including programs to help borrowers regularize their payments.

How it Works:

  • Students apply for loans or scholarships through IFARHU, often online or at their national offices.
  • The agency assesses applications and provides funding to cover tuition, fees, living expenses, and more, depending on the program.
  • Payments for scholarships and assistance are disbursed according to official calendars.

In essence, IFARHU is a key institution for promoting educational advancement and professional development in Panama by making higher education accessible.
