Chiriquí Province: ‘Boquita’ was Imprisoned for the Murder of a Construction Worker
Rubén Serracín was murdered with knives and stones for defending his stepson during a neighborhood fight. The National Police are continuing operations to locate others involved in the crime.
The judge ordered the provisional detention of a 30-year-old man, known by the alias “Boquita”, for his connection to the homicide of Rubén Darío Pinzón Serracín, 47 years old, which occurred on the night of Monday, January 12, during a neighborhood fight in the Los Abanicos sector, in David Sur. According to the investigation, Pinzón suffered at least three stab wounds and blunt force trauma during the altercation, leaving him critically injured. He died at the Rafael Hernández Regional Hospital.
Rubén went out to defend his stepson who was allegedly being threatened by “Boquita” and after the fight; he received the fatal stab wounds to the left side of his chest that led to his death. The Homicide and Femicide Prosecutor’s Office presented evidence to the judge implicating “Boquita” in the fatal attack, after gathering testimonies and evidence collected at the crime scene. The Public Prosecutor’s Office continues with the proceedings to determine if there were more people involved in the event that shook the community in this first crime of 2026.
