To Reinforce Territorial Control Senafront, Launches Operation ‘Steel Shield’ in the Darién

This operation responds to the institution’s two fundamental pillars: territorial control and citizen security.

Metetí, Darién: The Eastern Brigade, located in Metetí, Darién province, was the scene of the official launch of Operation “Steel Shield”, led by the general director of the National Border Service (Senafront), Larry Solís Velásquez.  During the event, Solís explained that this operation responds to the institution’s two fundamental pillars: territorial control and citizen security, with the objective of guaranteeing the protection of the population, strengthening healthy coexistence and promoting a culture of peace in the border areas of responsibility.  The director general explained that the Senafront Special Forces will be deployed in reconnaissance and territorial control operations in areas far from the border, specifically in the Pacific sector, as part of the preventive component of the operation.

Likewise, the Special Boat Units will carry out maritime interdiction and control operations, while the Pacific Battalion will carry out community integration actions, promoting the active participation of local communities within the framework of this security strategy.  Solís added that Operation “Steel Shield” will be carried out in coordination with other government entities, integrating institutional capabilities as established in the Firmness Plan, in order to strengthen territorial security management and maintain order in the region.
