Panama Torrential Downpours that Come and Go: The Weather Continues to Play Games Across the Country

The weather today is mixed: some dry, some wet, and some thundery. You’d better be prepared.

A weather watch remains in effect due to the possibility of rain and thunderstorms.  If you’re out and about today, be careful, because the weather is unpredictable. Early this morning, the Caribbean started with sporadic downpours that moved from the sea towards the coast, bringing a refreshing breeze but also making things difficult for early risers.  And that’s not all: in the afternoon, isolated downpours with electrical discharges are expected, especially over Guna Yala, Colón and the Western mountains.   At night, the same pattern repeats itself: intermittent rains that could fall in bursts in maritime and coastal areas.  On the Pacific side, the morning also started with one or two isolated showers between the Gulf of Panama, the East and Darien.

In the afternoon, the situation becomes more serious: rains of varying intensities could affect Chiriquí , the Ngäbe Buglé region , Central Provinces , West Panama , Panama and Darién.  As night falls, those rains could move towards the Chiriquí Lowlands, Southern Veraguas, the East and coastal areas. As for the heat, don’t expect much respite: highs will range between 30°C and 32°C in the Pacific, 28°C to 31°C in the Caribbean, and in the Central Mountain Range the cool will be from 22°C to 24°C.  The wind will blow from varying directions, between West and Southwest, with speeds of 10 to 25 km/h, so it won’t be a completely calm day either.
