Denouncing Fraud in the Miss Universe Competition: Angry People!

The Franco-Lebanese pianist Omar Harfouch announced his resignation as a judge of the competition, citing a lack of transparency and an alleged “secret vote”.

A huge uproar has erupted with the coronation of Fatima Bosch as Miss Universe 2025, as many criticisms are pouring in around the world and on social media, due to allegations of fraud against the contest.  The displeasure with the Mexican’s victory was expressed with boos at the Impact Arena in Pak Kret, Thailand, where the gala was held.  “The 74th Miss Universe is…..Mexico,” was announced, and immediately euphoria erupted among the Mexican fans. The rest of the audience, which included people from other Latin American countries, expressed their disagreement with boos, hisses, and shouts of fraud.  Videos began circulating on TikTok showing that even outside the venue, the discontent was evident, with boos and shouts alleging fraud in the selection process.

Other social media platforms were also flooded with similar messages, many of which highlighted that the current owner of Miss Universe is Mexican businessman Raúl Rocha, who has business dealings with Fátima Bosch’s father.  Franco-Lebanese pianist Omar Harfouch announced his resignation as a judge of the competition, citing a lack of transparency and an alleged “secret vote” in which the 30 finalists were chosen without evaluation by the eight-person jury, as reported by news media.  Harfouch claims that, in an interview recorded 24 hours before the coronation, he declared that Mexico would be the winner because Rocha maintains “business” with the beauty queen’s father, Bernardo Bosch, a businessman with a long career in the state oil company Pemex, EFE also highlighted, noting that the musician did not provide evidence for his accusations.
