Trump Congratulates Panama and Pledges to Work with Mulino to ‘Further Safeguard the Canal’s Security’

In his letter, President Trump highlighted Panama’s contributions to regional security and stability, while also acknowledging the country’s efforts in combating drug trafficking and illegal immigration.

Panama City, Panama: The President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, responded this Thursday to the congratulatory message sent by the President of the United States, Donald J. Trump, on the occasion of the 122nd anniversary of republican life, highlighting the character of the bilateral relationship as an alliance between friendly, sovereign and cooperating nations.  In his official social media account, the Panamanian president thanked the US president for his gesture, who in his official letter praised Panama as a “steadfast friend and a valuable ally” of the United States.


I appreciate President Donald Trump’s words to the Panamanian people for the celebration of our national holidays. We are friendly, sovereign, and cooperative nations on fundamental issues such as security, peace, and the protection of freedoms,” Mulino stated.


Trump Highlights Panama’s Regional Leadership

In his letter, President Trump highlighted Panama’s contributions to regional security and stability, while also acknowledging the country’s efforts in combating drug trafficking and illegal immigration.


“I applaud your efforts to strengthen security in our region, which is of great importance to me and the United States. I especially appreciate your outstanding cooperation in the United Nations Security Council, including our collaboration in Haiti,” Trump said.
