Panama Continues Baseball Training in Preparation for the Americas Cup

Baseball fever has hit Panama along with the rest of the planet it seems as the World Series continues tonight in Toronto with the Blue Jays leading the series 3 games to 2 in the best of 7 affair.  Locally Panama’s national senior baseball team continues to work at a good pace in preparation for the America’s Baseball Cup, which will be held on home soil from November 13 to 22.  A press release from the Panamanian Baseball Federation highlighted that during training sessions at the Mariano Rivera Stadium in Panama West.


Panamanian right-hander and former major leaguer Humberto Mejía worked in the bullpen, using his entire repertoire under the watchful eye of coach Wilfrido Córdoba.  There was also a day of play on field 2, when pitchers faced batters, with left-handed batter Abraham Rodríguez standing out for the second day in a row with good and solid contact. Yesterday’s session included the presence of former major leaguer Carlos Lee, who spent time with the players and coaching staff.
