Gringos Destroy ELN ‘Terrorist’ Ship. Petro Says It Was ‘A Humble Family’
“He wasn’t part of the ELN, he was from a humble family who loved the sea,” the Colombian president pictured below argued.

The United States and the Colombian president are sparring on social media after U.S. Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth reported that on Friday, October 17, the War Department destroyed a vessel allegedly linked to the Colombian National Liberation Army. The Secretary of Defense said the vessel belonged to a “terrorist organization.” But this Sunday, October 19, Colombian President Gustavo Petro denied this accusation and indicated that it was a mistake by U.S. intelligence, as it was a fishing vessel from Santa Marta.
“The Santa Marta fisherman’s boat didn’t belong to the ELN; it belonged to a humble family who loved the sea and got their food from there,” Petro wrote on Twitter. “What do you say to that family? Explain to me why you helped murder a humble fisherman from Santa Marta, the land where Bolívar died, and which they say is the heart of the world. “What do you say to the family of fisherman Alejandro Carranza? He was a humble human being,” Petro asked President Donald Trump.
Trump Accuses Petro
Donald Trump’s response was swift. On his social media platform, Truth Social, the US president sent a direct accusation against Petro… “President Gustavo Petro of Colombia is an illegal drug trafficker who is strongly encouraging mass drug production, in fields large and small,” throughout his country, the U.S. president reiterated.
