CKD is Chronic Kidney Disease – You need to Reduce Phosphorus and Potassium – Lets See What Your Nephrologist Considers of Healthy Fruits and Veggies

It looks like your choice of Apple, Pear, Strawberries, Blueberries, Raspberries, Clementines, Blackberries, Lemon and Lime, Watermelon, Pineapple, Cranberries, Carrots, Cauliflower, cabbage, Eggplant, Green and Yellow Beans, Onion, Green Peppers, Spaghetti Squash, Leeks, Lettuce, Cucumber, Radish and Celery, were all good choices, low in Potassium and Phosphorus, Phosphates and anything in the ingredient list that starts with Phos. By the way, Phosphorus binders like Tums, stop Phosphorus or Phosphates from being absorbed into your system, and manage to excrete them for you.
But your second choices of fruits and vegetables pictured below have been a disaster when it comes to getting approval from your Nephrologist. Occasionally you may see grapes listed as being beneficial to kidneys, but they are very high in Potassium. Good for healthy kidneys, but not so good for unhealthy ones. Starfruit, Bananas and Avocados lead the list in extremely high Potassium foods. Oranges, Cherries, Mangos, Kiwis, Peaches, Nectarines, Cantaloupe, Honeydew, Apricot, Prunes, Dried Fruit, Coconut, Brussel Sprouts, Squash (Except Spaghetti), Zucchini, Sweet or Regular Potato, Fries, Mushrooms, Tomato, Broccoli, Beets, Bok Choy, Artichoke and Spinach are all high in Potassium.
