The Panamanian Institute of Hydrology and Meteorology (IMHPA) has issued a significant rainfall watch that will be in effect from October 1 to 4 throughout the country and in several regional areas. According to the weather forecast, moderate to very heavy showers and storms are expected, with a high probability of generating significant accumulated rainfall. These could cause various impacts, such as:
-Urban and rural flooding.
-Landslides.
-River floods and overflows.
-Flooded streets.
-Fallen trees.
Daily accumulations are estimated at between 50 and 100 millimeters, with higher amounts in the areas marked in red on the official map (see illustration). In the rest of the country, accumulations of between 20 and 60 millimeters are expected. Authorities recommend that the public stay informed through official channels and take precautions against potential emergencies.
