A Panama Recall of the Mayor of Arraiján Has Signatures Now Being Collected
The recall movement has four months to collect at least 57,456 signatures, equivalent to 30% of the electoral roll used in the 2024 general elections.

This Friday, the signature collection process officially began for the request to recall the Mayor of the Arraiján district, Stefany Peñalba pictured above. The recall movement has four months to collect at least 57,456 signatures, equivalent to 30% of the electoral roll used in the 2024 general elections. The Electoral Tribunal, through Resolution No. 19-DROEA/LP/RM, authorized the initiation of the process.
This decision is based on a petition submitted by Abdiel Enrique González, which was accepted by the National Directorate of Electoral Organization on August 11. If the minimum number of signatures required is achieved , the process would advance to a new stage that could culminate in the dismissal of the current mayor.
