Doctor is Suspended: Patient Suffers Burns at Nicolás A. Solano Hospital
The Public Prosecutor’s Office is conducting an investigation into what happened at the Nicolás Solano Hospital. The institution detailed that, in addition to the administrative actions already initiated against the doctor, it is continuing to collaborate with the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The Nicolás A. Solano Regional Hospital reported this Monday that it has suspended the appointments of a doctor involved in a procedure during which a patient suffered burns while having an abdominal wound cleaned. On August 22, a minor was admitted to this medical center for appendicitis surgery, during which, according to the patient’s father, he suffered burns on several parts of his body. The institution detailed that, in addition to the administrative actions already initiated against the doctor, it is maintaining full collaboration with the Public Prosecutor’s Office in the corresponding investigations.
In parallel, the medical department, with the support of the Ministry of Health (Minsa), assured that it is reinforcing care protocols with an emphasis on humanizing the service, in order to guarantee dignified and empathetic medical care for the population of Western Panama. “The hospital apologizes to the patient and his family for the situation they have had to face at our facilities,” the hospital said in its official statement.
This hospital is already under investigation by the Ministry of Health (MINSA), the Public Prosecutor’s Office (MP), and the Ombudsman’s Office, following allegations of alleged malpractice. The Public Prosecutor’s Office is investigating 15 cases of alleged medical negligence involving this hospital. Within this hospital, the Ministry of Health (MINSA) is also advancing an investigation into other doctors on duty on August 14, when a patient died in the emergency room waiting room while awaiting care.
