As Part of Operation Dealer 2 for Drug Dealing, Fifteen People Arrested in Chiriquí
A joint operation between the Public Prosecutor’s Office and SENAFRONT dismantled a drug distribution network operating near schools in the Barú district.

Puerto Armuelles, Chiriquí: The Public Ministry, through the Specialized Prosecutor’s Office for Drug-Related Crimes , reported that this Monday, August 18, it carried out a series of search warrants in conjunction with the National Border Service (Senafront), achieving the arrest of 14 people allegedly linked to micro-trafficking. According to the institution, these actions respond to the increasing incidence of criminal acts related to the sale of illicit substances reported in sectors of the province of Chiriquí. A total of 15 raids and searches were carried out in Puerto Armuelles, Barú district, mainly in the communities of El Palmar, Coronado and San Bartolo, where the suspects maintained territorial control.

Authorities stated that one of the people arrested was allegedly selling drugs near educational institutions, which raised the alarm in the area. The investigation began on July 17, following intelligence efforts that led to the identification of suspects linked to the retail sale of illicit substances. During the investigation, the Prosecutor’s Office and SENAFRONT seized suspected drugs and other evidence that will be incorporated into the case. The Public Prosecutor’s Office emphasized that these operations are part of strategic actions aimed at reducing drug distribution in the Barú district and strengthening the security of the affected communities.
