Police Recapture Two Fugitives From the David Prison

Operations in the province of Chiriquí led to the recapture of two individuals, ages 20 and 24, who had escaped from the Aurelio Granados Custody Center in the district of David, where they are serving sentences for homicide and aggravated robbery. The recapture took place in the town of David Este, where units deployed rapid operational action after receiving the alert about the escape.  Both were placed at the orders of the corresponding authorities.

During the operation known as “Humvee and Hunt,” the National Police, in coordination with the Public Ministry, recaptured five people, including three adults and two minors, who had escaped from the Aurelio Granado Detention Center in the district of David.  Commissioner Armodio Cortéz, head of the 4th Police Zone of Chiriquí, reported that thanks to citizen collaboration and the coordinated work with units from the Police Intelligence Section (SDIP) and the Judicial Investigation Section (SDIJ), the fugitives were located in the districts of David Este and Las Lomas, David district. The recaptured individuals were being held for aggravated robbery, rape, illegal possession of a firearm, and aggravated intentional homicide. The National Police reaffirms its commitment to security and law enforcement and urges citizens to continue cooperating by providing timely information to maintain peace in their communities.
