Panama Union Leader Murdered and His Truck Stolen
According to witnesses, armed men arrived at the scene in a vehicle, struggled with him, and shot Cubilla, leaving him mortally wounded.

Panama City: Nestor Cubilla, 56 years of age, leader of the Darien Transport Union, died last night in the emergency room of the Irma de Lourdes Tzanetatos hospital (Tocumen), after being shot while he was in a mechanic’s workshop in Alto del Lago. According to witnesses, armed men arrived at the scene in a vehicle, struggled with him, and shot Cubilla, leaving him mortally wounded. The bullets also struck another person. After finishing the job, the hitmen fled, stealing the victim’s Prado SUV. Cubilla and the other injured person were rushed to the hospital, where their deaths were confirmed. Although robbery was initially presumed to be the motive for the crime, this theory will be verified by the Metropolitan Area Homicide and Femicide Prosecutor’s Office in the ongoing investigation.
