Emily Santos won silver for Panama in the 200-meter breaststroke. The Panamanian had also won gold in the 100-meter breaststroke.

Panamanian swimmer Emily Santos gave Panama the silver medal in the 200-meter breaststroke at the 2025 Junior Pan American Games being held in Asunción, Paraguay. A lunge with her arm at the end of the competition in the pool was the difference, so that Emily Santos finished in second place with a time of 2:30.17. The first place went to the Brazilian Agatha Amaral who stopped the clock at 2:30.09. The bronze went to fellow Brazilian Nichelly Brandao, who clocked 2:33.72.

It’s worth remembering that in the preliminary events, Santos set a Junior Pan American record in the 200m breaststroke by stopping the clock at 2:30:08. Panama had to appeal the time because the Isthmus swimmer had been disqualified. That appeal was filed by the Panamanian Olympic Committee (COP) and won. This was Emily Santos’ second medal at the Junior Pan American Games, the first being gold in the 100m breaststroke. It was also Panama’s third medal in this competition; Arturo Dorati won bronze in fencing.
