Panama Landslide Cleanup Work is Underway on the Chiriquí Grande-Gualaca Highway
MOP maintains constant monitoring and response efforts at other critical points affected by the rains.

Panama – Bocas: The Ministry of Public Works (MOP), through its Regional Directorate in Bocas del Toro and in coordination with the company Constructora Urbana, SA (CUSA), began Monday the cleaning and clearing work on the road that connects Chiriquí Grande with Gualaca, after a landslide interrupted vehicular traffic due to the heavy rains recorded on the afternoon of Sunday, August 3.
The road, considered one of the main arteries connecting Bocas del Toro and the rest of the country, was blocked by mud and debris falling from the hillsides, posing a significant risk to the mobility and safety of the region’s residents. The MOP reported that crews are working continuously and in a coordinated manner to remove debris, clear the affected area, and restore free traffic as soon as possible. Additionally, the agency is maintaining constant monitoring and providing assistance in other critical areas affected by the rains, especially in the township of La Gloria and the community of Bonyic, in the Changuinola district.
