Parque Omar – Cinta Costera – Old Town – SPI Will Strengthen Its Presence in Panama
Operation Fortitude will be implemented from today until the end of the year to ensure the safety of locals and tourists. The SPI is responsible for ensuring security at these busy locations in the capital.
The Institutional Protection Service (SPI) will strengthen security for nationals and foreigners visiting three key strategic locations in the Panamanian capital: Omar Park, the Cinta Costera, and the Old Town in San Felipe. This will include implementing intelligence tasks and reinforcing the security forces and the prevention system. The purpose of the operation is to create a safe and peaceful environment for visitors participating in recreational activities within the agency’s areas of responsibility during the holiday season. There will be an increased presence of units so that Panamanian and foreign families can enjoy the sports center and tourist areas with confidence and enjoyment.
Armando King, director of the SPI, highlighted the commitment of this institution to peaceful coexistence in our country, through the SPI units, the visible face of a nation of peace and committed to the peace of all. “This is an institutional action in which security is not only the absence of crime, but also the construction of safe, reliable spaces conducive to human development. This initiative seeks to strengthen public security management and becomes an active pillar of peaceful coexistence in our country,” emphasized the director of the SPI. He urged the members of this operation, known as Fortaleza, to act with excellence, empathy, and proactivity, with the mission of preventing crime and inspiring confidence and security in citizens.
