The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office Arrested Four Former District Representatives for Alleged Embezzlement

Guarantee judges charge former representatives with embezzlement in the decentralization case.

A Chiriquí judge and a Veraguas magistrate charged and ordered the arrest of the former representative and treasurer of the Dolega Communal Board for alleged embezzlement due to the irregular handling of decentralization funds through the Comprehensive Sustainable Development Program (PDIS).  Meanwhile, in a second hearing held with the representative and treasurer of the Quebrada de Piedra community council in Tolé, Chiriquí province, Judge Williams ordered them to be placed under a precautionary measure prohibiting them from leaving the country and from approaching the community council, after charging them with embezzlement.
