1903 Panama Flag Bearing Witness to Separation from Colombia is Headed to Spain for Restoration

On the afternoon of Monday, May 26, the “Wounded Flag,” one of the emblems of Panama’s separation from Colombia in 1903, was loaded onto a commercial flight bound for Madrid, Spain, where it will remain for 18 months undergoing restoration. The flag, which was housed in the Herrera “Fabio Rodríguez” Museum and is unique in that its colors are reversed, will be taken to the Spanish capital on Iberia flight 258.
