Panama will Host the Inaugural Congress of the Pan American Boxing Confederation March 15

Panama was chosen to host the Inaugural Congress of the Pan American Boxing Confederation, which will take place on March 15, in the Cristal Room of the Panama Hotel, starting at 9:00 a.m.  This convention will bring together representatives from across the continent, which will create the organizational structure to strengthen and unify boxing in the region. In addition, the statutes will be approved and the directors who will govern Olympic boxing in the Americas will be elected.

The confederation’s short-term goal is to create a solid organizational base, while in the medium term it will promote the development of new talent and increase the visibility of Latin American boxing in international tournaments.  This meeting will also include an update session for judges and referees, led by Raymond Silva, former president of the Judges and Referees Commission.  An important aspect is that there will also be representatives from World Boxing, which is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) as the current International Federation (IF).  It is worth recalling that the IOC expelled the International Boxing Association (IBA) from the Olympic movement following a long dispute over financial, political and judges’ performance issues.
