Rice Producers in Chiriquí reach partial Agreements with MIDA

David, Chiriquí: Rice producers in the Progreso sector of the province of Chiriquí said they reached partial agreements with the authorities of the Ministry of Agricultural Development (MIDA) for the payment of the debt that the State still has with them, as a result of economic compensation.

The producers, who had carried out protest actions with their teams in the Progreso sector, have asked for acceleration in the payment of these monies that exceed 100 million dollars, of which about 17% or 22% are from the province of Chiriquí.  Justo Arosemena, spokesman for the rice producers, said that they will give this vote of confidence to the MIDA authorities so that they can receive the money they need to begin planting the grain for the 2025-2026 agricultural year.
