The Panama-David Train Project to Paso Canoas is Progressing Well

The President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulino, stated this Thursday, August 29, that the planning of the Panama-David train project is progressing well and announced that it could reach Paso Canoas, a border sector with Costa Rica.  At the weekly press conference, the president announced that the financing method for the railway project is about to be defined. Likewise, in his recent conversation with the President of Costa Rica, Rodrigo Chaves, he highlighted the good management that Panama has in terms of logistics and that he loves plans that the train will reach Paso Canoas.

In this regard, he commented that Chaves said that coordination can be made so that Costa Rican export cargo can be handled by Panama to different destinations.  “When I say Costa Rica, it could be Central America because it is a single funnel. So that will give a lot of financial viability to the train, which will not only be for passengers, but will also have a cargo component, which is what will produce the money to pay for what it costs,” said Mulino.  So far, the cost of the project, the route and the time it will take to make it a reality have not been revealed.  This Thursday, the Presidency of the Republic reported that the National Secretary of the Railway, Henry Faarup, gave details about the routes that are being evaluated for the David-Panama Train, in a meeting with the business sector of Chiriquí and Bocas del Toro, which was attended by President Mulino, in Bugaba.
