MICI and UNIDO – To Turn Panama Into a Pharmaceutical Hub

The government seeks to attract companies in the sector, also to establish an infrastructure that supports growth and innovation in the pharmaceutical field As part of the Government’s strategy to position Panama as a regional pharmaceutical hub, the Minister of Trade and Industries, Julio Moltó, met with representatives of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization to explore and evaluate key strategies and recommendations for this project.  The meeting focused on strengthening the pharmaceutical value chain, with UNIDO providing valuable recommendations based on its extensive global experience in the creation of industrial hubs.  Both Ludmilla de Oliveira Diniz, head of the Directorate of Global Associations and External Relations, and Alexis Rodríguez, Officer of Coordination of Economic Development, recognized Panama’s potential to achieve this goal, highlighting its strategic position and the infrastructure in development.  Moltó stressed the importance of this meeting, emphasizing that UNIDO’s recommendations are fundamental to advancing the strategy and achieving the proposed objective.  The Panamanian government not only seeks to attract companies in the sector, but also to establish an infrastructure that supports growth and innovation in the pharmaceutical field.  Ariane Neira, Senior Project Coordinator of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) also participated in the meeting.
