Trump Names JD Vance from Ohio as Running Mate and VP – Other Trump News

The former president Donald Trump named JD Vance, the senator from Ohio, to be his running mate and vice-president when he returns to the White House.  Born James David Bowman in Middletown, Ohio in 1984, Vance comes from a white, working class family mostly of Scottish-Irish decent. He was raised by his maternal grandparents in the once-booming Appalachian coal country that is now one of the country’s poorest areas. Vance joined the Marines for four years and served in Iraq before going to Ohio State University, where he received degrees in political science and philosophy.  From there, he attended Yale Law School, and then wrote a successful memoir, Hillbilly Elegy, that some reviewers described as offering a window into a conservative white working class that is often overlooked.  With an endorsement from Trump, he clinched the Senate seat and has since become an influential voice in Washington.

GOP Formally Nominates Donald Trump for President

Former President Donald Trump formally received enough delegate votes to become the official 2024 Republican presidential nominee Monday afternoon.

In other Trump news, the federal judge overseeing the case alleging former President Donald Trump mishandled sensitive government documents after leaving the White House has dismissed the charges against him and his two codefendants.  U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon said in a 93-page order that she has granted Trump’s bid to dismiss the indictment based on the unlawful funding and appointment of special counsel Jack Smith, who brought the charges against the former president. Trump said in a statement on social media that all civil and criminal cases brought against him should also be dismissed, and he accused the Justice Department of coordinating the indictments in an effort to harm his presidential campaign. “Let us come together to END all Weaponization of our Justice System, and Make America Great Again!” Trump wrote.

Another US billionaire publicly endorsed Trump.  Billionaire, Bill Ackman, the CEO of Pershing Square Capital Management, has “formally” endorsed President Donald Trump following his attempted assassination in Pennsylvania on Saturday.  This is coming on the heels of Billionaire Elon Musk announcing that he “fully supports and endorses” Trump shortly after that assassination attempt.  Ackman suggested that the upcoming presidential election is one of the “most consequential” in his lifetime, and said he has spent a few hours recently with Trump.

Donald Trump has completely changed his speech for the Republican National Convention because he wants to stress his belief that the aftermath of an attempt on his life can “bring the country together”.

Meta reinstated Trump on Facebook and Instagram after having banned his social media accounts in 2021.

Supporters of former President Donald Trump gathered in Huntington Beach, California as the former president called for unity and resilience Sunday after an attempt on his life added fresh uncertainty to an already tumultuous presidential campaign and raised sharp questions about how a gunman was able to open fire from a rooftop near a Pennsylvania campaign rally. “We know that they’re trying to steal the- steal it (the election) from us, and they’re going to do whatever they can to get rid of Trump. And so yesterday they tried. And so we’re here to show. That is not gonna happen. We’re not gonna let that happen. We’re all- we know what we see what’s happening. And it’s not going to happen under our watch,” said one Republican supporter.  “Yeah. We’re celebrating that he lived. Yeah.  Of course.  Yeah.  He survived. He dodged a bullet.  Literally.  Like, literally.

“Staged to get sympathy” and an “order” likely from the CIA with involvement of Barack Obama and the Clintons, or it was Joe Biden who sent the orders as was posted on X referring to a comment Biden made earlier about putting “Trump in a bull’s-eye”.  This growing discussion is now leading to theories that the incident was planned and that authorities allowed it to happen.  These are just some of the conspiracy theories that swirled on social media just moments after former US president Donald Trump survived an assassination attempt at a rally on Saturday.
