First Tropical Wave Hits Panama
The first tropical wave of the rainy season entered Panama causing heavy rains, accompanied by strong winds and lightning. Given these weather conditions, the Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology of Panama (IMHP) issued a surveillance notice that remains in force from now until 11:59 pm this Wednesday, May 29. According to the IMHP report, this first tropical wave, which is moving from eastern Colombia towards Panamanian territory, will cause rains with greater concentration in the provinces of Panama, Colón, Veraguas, Chiriquí and Bocas del Toro. Precipitation will also be recorded in Darién, Panama Oeste, Colcé and the Emberá region. The National Civil Protection System (Sinaproc) asked the population to take precautions against flooding of rivers, streams, falling trees and possible flooding in avenues, communities and landslides.
