The fallout from Jailhouse rock party
Nothing less than a birthday party, with danceable music, a buffet, alcohol, lights, a sweet to sing Happy Birthday, and even a flare gun, was celebrated by inmates from the Nueva Esperanza prison in Colón. All the revelry was documented because one of the participants recorded it with his cell phone and shared the videos with his contacts. And as if they were the only ones responsible, the birthday boy and his circle zero have been transferred to another prison, “as a disciplinary measure.” That is the punishment. The authorities had no problem quickly identifying those who enjoyed the party, but an official statement reports that an investigation has been opened to see if they discover who the custodians involved are. You have to be cheeky to inform the country of that when a party like that would never have been possible without the help and complicity of the staff who allowed all the paraphernalia to enter. Or who knows: maybe the flare, the alcohol, and the cell phone that filmed it all were already in there and only the food had to be brought in. It’s hard to believe that those trays sneaked in because everything looked very well arranged and even garnished with parsley.
