Trump mocks “ridiculous” judicial charges against him
Former US President Donald Trump (2017-2021) mocked Saturday the “ridiculous” judicial charges against him at a rally in the state of Pennsylvania, key to the 2024 elections.
The rally came after special prosecutor, Jack Smith, announced Thursday three new charges against him in the mishandling of classified documents case, for which he was indicted last month in Florida.
“They have opened Pandora’s box by indicting me with these ridiculous charges,” warned Trump, who remains the favorite for the Republican presidential nomination for the 2024 elections.
Trump again argued without evidence that the multiple legal charges against him are politically motivated and vowed that he will retaliate against Biden and his son Hunter if he is elected president.
Specifically, upon reaching the White House, Trump promised that he would appoint a special prosecutor to investigate Hunter, accused in a Delaware court of two tax offenses and another related to possession of a firearm while consuming drugs.
The investigation against Hunter Biden was opened in 2018 during Trump’s tenure and the Republican has consistently used it to attack Biden and cast doubt on his son’s business dealings abroad, especially his work with a Chinese investment firm and another from natural gas from Ukraine.

In the Florida case, for which charges were added this week, Trump has pleaded not guilty, arguing he did nothing wrong when he took boxes full of classified documents back to his Florida mansion when he left the White House in January 2021.
In New York, in April, a grand jury indicted Trump for falsifying business documents in a case that includes porn actress Stormy Daniels, with whom the former president had an affair in 2006.

It is not known when Trump could be formally indicted in that case; But last week, the former president himself said on his social network, Truth Social, that prosecutors had sent him a letter to notify him that he was being investigated, which could mean that the indictment will take place soon.
The assault on the Capitol claimed the lives of five people and put American democracy to the test, although Congress was able to end up certifying Biden’s victory in the elections.
