Three cops and a woman arrested for alleged extortion

 

Three National Police officers and a woman were apprehended  Wednesday, July 26 for alleged crimes against individual liberty in the form of extortion and against the public administration, after raids in West Panama and Veraguas.

The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office in conjunction with the National Police and the Judicial Investigation Directorate (DIJ) carried out four simultaneous search procedures in the town of Pedregal and the districts of Arraiján and Santiago, following a complaint where the units allegedly dishonored the Uniformed and through intimidation, they induced a citizen of Asian origin to illegally hand over $5,000 at a checkpoint.

For this fact, three police units and a woman, the alleged partner of one of these, were arrested during the operation led by the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor.
