Panama in top three of Expat Insider report
The global community for people living and working abroad, Internations, recently released the report known as “Expat Insider.” The study ranked 53 countries based on their role in five indices: quality of life, ease of settling down, working abroad, personal finances, and an “essentials for expatriates” index, which covered housing, language management, and digital life. Panama was ranked number 3, surpassed by Mexico and Spain, ranked first and second. The Isthmus was ranked since expatriates who are living in the isthmus are happ the best destinations to live were the ease of finding friends and the culture and welcome. Most expats (82%) have a personal support network (compared to 58% globally) and face few challenges finding local friends (74% vs. 43% globally). They also feel at home in Panama (84% vs. 67% globally). Although thy with the ease of establishing themselves in the country.
The subcategories that positioned Panama in third place amonge country’s average performance in the Quality of Life Index (position 28) expatriates enjoy its climate (position 11) and air quality (10). The Work Abroad Index is the worst-rated subcategory by expatriates who live in Panama, occupying position 30. The local labor market is at number 47 and the lack of security at position 45. However, the country has a good index when it comes to Work and Leisure (11). Regarding personal finances, Panama held a good position in eighth place, since 80% of expatriates are happy with their financial situation compared to 58% worldwide. Although there are difficulties in opening a bank account (47), expatriates assured that it is easy to access, 83% were happy compared to 49% globally and paying for a home 65% compared to 38% globally. In general, 81% of expatriates were satisfied with their life in Panama compared to 72% worldwide.
