Cover up or crime of omission?

The Vice President of the Republic, and then Minister of the Presidency, was informed in 2021 of irregularities that could have been classified as crimes in the use and redemption of solidarity bonds that totaled almost $1 million.

The anomalies found in what clearly appears to be the intention to commit the crime of embezzlement are contained in an audit report –which he himself ordered to be made– which concluded that, although there was no injury to the State, it did need to be investigated further. by the Public Ministry (MP), for which reason this same report recommends filing a complaint with the authority. But the vice president did not. Why didn’t this senior official, who must be the equivalent of a diligent father with state money, do it?

His deliberate omission seems more like the action of an accomplice than that of an official who, by law, is obliged to report when in the presence of a potential crime. Hopefully, upon learning of the case, the MP will initiate an ex officio investigation, in order to answer questions that the vice president prevented from being answered, refusing to specify the recommendation to file a complaint, as recommended by the audit – LA PRENSA.
