Pastor and son arrested transporting drugs
A 64-year-old pastor and his son,32 and a friend, were captured transporting 60 packages of illegal substances, in a vehicle that was detained in the Fortuna operation, carried out by the National Police in the district of Santiago, province of Veraguas.
The detainees were Omar Espinosa Famania, his son Omar Ameth Espinosa Miranda, , and his friend Emilio Reyes Sanjur, 41.
They were in a white pick-up vehicle, transporting sixty rectangular packages wrapped in chocolate-colored adhesive tape, with the (AMC) logo. In addition, $581.45 in cash and four cell phones were seized.
The apprehended natives of the province of Chiriquí were presented before Judge César Bernal, who ordered the arrest of the three accused, for the alleged aggravated possession of drugs.
The judge upheld his decision as necessary and proportional to the nature of the event and in addition to the danger to the community, neglect of the process, and because it is a serious crime.
According to acquaintances of the pastor, who preached, in a Church in the Barú district, that day he accompanied his son, to carry out an errand to Panama City, and supposedly was unaware of the illegal activity.
The three will remain detained in the Veraguas prison.
