OPINION: Education – another lost year
A New school year, but everything remains the same. The “star” of the Government –education– is an orphan. There are no reforms, no progress, no will, no dialogue, no proposals, no hope. The Government condemns our youth to suffer a vicious circle, preparing them to be employees, instead of entrepreneurs; to obey, instead of creating; to be dependent, rather than independent. Our education is decades away from an academic offer in line with the present. Educators are so outdated that sometimes it’s better to be self-taught. There are better educational infrastructures, but the intellectual needs of the students are above. An educational reform does not have to be complete at the beginning, but it is necessary to take the first steps, consolidate the base to adopt the new trends, deepen the knowledge of our teachers and then add the students so that they receive cutting-edge education. This is a rich country in many ways, but we waste talent because few are interested and the government is the main obstacle to reform. This is how we started and how, surely, we will finish: Another lost year. – LA PRENSA, Mar. 7
