Owner of bus whose driver attacked passenger loses operating certificate

The Transit Transport Authority (ATTT) has canceled the operating certificate of a bus owner who attacked a passenger on the Burunga route who had complained of a 50 cents overcharge.

The passenger Domingo Rodríguez, who was attacked by the carrier of the Burunga route,  died on October 3.

Carlos Ordóñez, director of the ATTT, said that both the owner of the quota and the Society of Owners of Collective Transport of Burunga, SA are also penalized with 5 thousand dollars.

Ordóñez regretted that the attack originated from an increase in the rate not endorsed by the entity. The aggressor driver is under the orders of the Public Ministry, which is carrying out investigations for the charge of crime against life and personal integrity.

The ATTT clarified in a statement that “no increases in the public transport service were approved, however, in response to the problems that the sector faces on a daily basis, a National Dialogue table was established, which has generated benefits for carriers that affect the regular collection of the ticket price to the users”.
