“Significant” number of children hospitalized with covid-19

The Minister of Health, alerted on Tuesday, December 13, a “significant” number of children in pediatric hospitals some with aggravated cases of covid-19.

Sucre, who did not offer precise figures, affirmed that these children are not properly vaccinated. “The vaccine for the pediatric group is available,” he said

The minister added that efforts are being made in the country to have the anti-covid vaccines and the necessary doses, but commented that the fear of this disease is increasingly lost. He said that while it is true there is peace of mind, you also have to get vaccinated to have that peace of mind.

Panama is facing the sixth wave of infections by covid-19.

On Monday, the Ministry of Health reported that in the last epidemiological week 6,718 new cases of the disease and 10 deaths were confirmed.
