Slimmed down film festival has free showings

IFF, The International Film Festival of Panama will have a selection of 15 films for its eleventh edition, which will be held in person from December 2 to 4, the organizers of the event said on Wednesday.
In the new edition, the International Film Festival has a cut of several days in its programming, which in its tenth version was held from December 2 to 9, 2021.
“This year we will have a smaller Festival than in the past, but powerful, with gems of cinema that represent the best of the seventh art with rich and deep narratives,” said Bernardo Ordás Guardia, director of the IFF Panama Foundation (FIP) and the International Film Festival.
“Together with the State, the private company, and the civilian population, we have managed to produce this powerful edition of IFF Panama and it will be absolutely magical. It is not all bad news,” said Pituka Ortega, who now chairs the Foundation and the Festival after directing the exhibition since its inception.
In addition to screenings in theaters, in this edition, the IFF returns with the “Cinema al aire libre”, free performances for the whole family in the inner courtyard of the “La Manzana” cultural center, in the Santa Ana neighborhood, close to the old town from Panama City.
Other venues for the festival are the Canal Museum Theater and the La Compañía hotel in the Old Town, as well as the Ateneo Theater in the City of Knowledge.
As in previous editions, this year there will be workshops, talks, and master classes given by internationally renowned filmmakers and professionals, aimed at the industry as well as the general public and adolescents, young people, girls, and boys.
In the last 10 years, IFF Panama has attracted more than 170,000 spectators and 980 guests from more than 24 countries.
