Hospital evacuated as 6.9 magnitude earthquake rocks six provinces
An earthquake with a magnitude of 6.9 degrees was felt at 6:57 am on Thursday, in Panama, Herrera, Bocas del Toro, Veraguas, Chiqui, and West Panama. On its Twitter account, the National Civil Protection System reported that there are no reports of damage.
Initially, The Institute of Geosciences of the University of Panama reported that the movement had a magnitude of 6.5 degrees. However, it later specified that it was 6.9 degrees, according to the most recent update.
The earthquake, with a depth of 10 kilometers, was located 79 kilometers from Coiba.
Because of the situation, at the Rafael Hernández Regional Hospital, in David, Chiriquí, it was decided to evacuate.
