Five arrests in $700,000 bank robbery investigation
Five people have been arrested for their alleged involvement in the Calidonia branch, during raids carried out simultaneously by the Primary Attention Section of the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office and the National Police at seven points in the province of Panama, including the bank’s facilities.
The Anti-Corruption Prosecutor, Adela Cedeño, confirmed that three National Bank officials and two individuals were apprehended in raids led by the Prosecutor’s Office, in relation to the robbery on August 13 at the Calidonia branch.
The search proceedings were carried out in the districts of Chepo and 24 de Diciembre, as well as in the district of San Miguelito.
According to information from the Public Ministry on its Twitter account, so far there has been evidence related to the theft discovered on August 15, when the branch was closed for reasons of celebrating the founding of Panama Viejo.
Among the signs are documents, vehicles, and cell phones.
