A program to enable pregnant teens to finish school
The Las Claras program, of the Vital Voices of Panama foundation, is fundraising to complete the expansion of the center that allows pregnant minors to finish their studies through comprehensive education.
“The main objective of the program is to give teenage mothers a different perspective of their situation. The purpose is to provide them with education, security, stability, and empowerment so that they have the tools to get ahead and show that their history is not defined by being a young mother”, says the NGO on its digital portal.
The project, which benefits 45 minors in the Felipillo headquarters and 12 adolescents in the center of Santa Ana, currently maintains an expansion of the establishment in the eastern area to “ensure” that the babies of the mothers can be cared for and receive stimulation early.
Other donations that the NGO is looking for are “skills”, details Yesica Pinzón, coordinator of Las Claras. “We need volunteers to teach English or another activity so they can generate income.”
