Plans in place for the state funeral of Elizabeth II

EFE – London – When Queen Elizabeth II died, the so-called London Bridge Operation was launched and, with it, Unicorn, the millimetrically orchestrated preparations designed since the 1960s for when the day of national mourning arrived.

Among the many plans modeled with a magnifying glass in anticipation of this moment, the official mission details step by step what exactly happens with the monumental logistics machinery that will be activated.

Edward Young, private secretary to the Queen and the main person in charge of organizing her succession, is the first person to receive the news.

The plans drawn up foresee that Young notify the prime minister, Liz Truss with a phrase: “London Bridge is Down”.

From there, the so-called Global Response Center of the Foreign Office is in charge of transferring the news to the 15 governments outside the country where the Queen is head of state, and to the other 38 nations of the Commonwealth.

The London Bridge operation contemplates the events that would take place in the next ten days, starting on the so-called D-Day (the day of death), with historical events such as a four-day tour of the entire nation by the new king.

The parliaments, both in London and the Scottish, Welsh, and Northern Irish, suspend their sessions and the website of the Royal Family goes black.

The prime minister holds an audience with the new king, which launches Operation Spring Tide which regulates the ascension of the monarch Charles, the heir.

A memorial service for the Queen will be held with the Prime Minister at St Paul’s Cathedral.
