Migrants rescued from trafficking network
Agents of the National Police, the National Border Service, and the Public Ministry rescued five migrants at the Guabalá checkpoint, in the district of Tolé, Chiriqui on Friday, May 13.
A Panamanian citizen suspected of being linked to a human trafficking network from Panama to Central America was arrested.
In the action, labeled Operation Trident five people – three women and two men – of Nicaraguan nationality were are recovered, from an articulated truck that was transporting a refrigerated container.
Meanwhile, three other people who were traveling behind the truck in a pick-up vehicle without a license plate are being investigated.
