OPINION: Beware the promises of the fake Messiah

There are so many problems facing society that it is difficult to define where to begin to solve them. There is the issue of justice, which always seems to be tilted in favor of the highest bidder or, in other words, in favor of the one with the biggest wallet. On the other hand, some deputies, who are not always the same by chance, insist on using their seats to benefit the interests of those close to power or of those who are willing to satisfy the eternal “what’s in it for me”. And if we add to it the deep economic crisis that the country is experiencing, which is becoming more and more acute due to the lack of planning and a strategy consistent with global reality, as well as the growing misuse of State funds by the rulers, it is not strange that many Panamanians begin to believe in false messiahs, that promise money in the pockets and work for all. Magic recipes to solve the country’s problems do not exist. We must begin to solve our own problems, not by playing hard, but with honest work. Letting ourselves be fooled by the promises of a false messiah is a human thing, but allowing it to deceive us a second time is foolish – LA PRENSA, Mar. 30.
