Pandemic causes cancellation of 2022 Carnivals
An executive decree published on Thursday, January 27, orders the cancellation of the 2022 Carnivals throughout the country due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
The Decree carries the signature of the President, Laurentino Cortizo, and the Minister of Health, Luis Francisco Sucre. It establishes that between Friday, February 25 and Sunday, March 6, 2022, mass activities are prohibited.
The activities that are banned are dancing, in open or closed spaces, in gardens, canteens, discos, awnings, and the like.
Cantaderas, concerts, presentations of artists on stage, and animation in mobile structures of nightclubs cannot be held either.
The culecos or mojaderas with or without a tank were also canceled, in addition to parades.
Other activities that are not authorized are cockfights, bullfights, and lasso competitions, as well as mass gatherings in residences, buildings, streets, or neighborhoods
